What were the reasons and circumstances behind this decision? How did your journey begin and what places did you visit during this journey? Tapasvi Babaji answered: You have asked a question and in order to answer it, I will have to turn back to many forgotten memories or I will have to recollect a chain of events. I'll narrate everything I remember about leaving my family at an early age, the circumstances that led to this decision, the places I went to and the practices I did during this journey. The Story Begins The story begins in Almora district, in a region called Kumaon, in the Uttarakhand section of the Himalayas. It is known as a place where many ancient rishis have done tapasya. A major route to Kailash and Mansarover passes through here and it lies in the midst of a beautiful range of mountains, like Nanda Devi, Panch Kundi, Trishuli, etc. I was born in Bhavu village in this region, in a Brahmin family that did spiritual practices. This family also conducted systematic study of Gita, Gayatri and Astrology.
